Barware
The best barware
A well-stocked bar will have a variety of barware. Barware can range from anything from standard glassware like beer glasses and wine glasses to specialty glasses like shot glasses and brandy snifters. Though you can drink any beverage from any glassware, having the proper glass for certain drinks simply feels right, and is a lot more fun.
Common Barware
Some of the most common types of barware include brandy snifters, white wine glasses, red wine glasses, margarita glasses, martini glasses, beer glasses and mugs, rock glasses, highball glasses, champagne glasses and shot glasses. Some of the glasses can be used for several different types of drinks. While you’ll really want wine glasses for your wine, a highball glass can be interchanged with things like a zombie glass or a Collins glass. Beer glasses or beer mugs are fine; you don’t necessarily have to have both.
You can find barware and bar sets in a variety of styles and colors. One popular style is retro barware, with things like mixed drink shakers, shot jiggers and martini shakers emulating styles from decades past. Don’t forget bar accessories like long drink spoons, swizzle sticks, a mixing glass, corkscrew and a bottle opener. If you want to go really retro, try to find a wall-mounted bottle opener. Those were used in bars for years to make it easy for the bartender to pop open bottles for customers.
Bar Sets
Even if you don’t intend to make every drink possible or you’ve never had a martini in your life, bar sets add a certain something to your home bar or drink mixing station. The look of a stainless steel drink shaker on a shelf or a few specialty glasses lining the wall will give your bar an authentic look and will help you enjoy your time there even more.
